Submission to the Low Pay Commission on the National Minimum Wage

On 8 February 2019, the Small Firms Association made its submission to the Low Pay Commission, presenting the issues facing small businesses around the country. The submission calls for the minimum wage to remain unchanged in 2020 and outlines the reasons why it is neither appropriate nor viable to increase the rate at this time.

The submission provides essential information for consideration in a number of areas:

  • Evidence-based policy
  • Recent developments in the National Minimum Wage
  • International developments
  • Domestic economic context
  • Labour market issues
  • Wage levels in Ireland
  • Breakdown of impact on specific sectors and regions

The full submission can be accessed through the SFA website.
