Annual Report on EU SMEs 2009 and Small Business Act fact sheets

The European Commission have published new documents:

SME 2009 Report

The 2009 SME Annual Report provides a good overview of the size, structure and importance of SMEs to the European economy and their contribution to growth and jobs. The report also offers comparisons with important partner countries outside the EU and with the large enterprise sector.

Small Business Act Fact Sheets

The Small Business Act (SBA) was launched by the Commission in June 2008 and provides a policy framework for actions in favour of SMEs.  Structured around ten key principles and accompanied by a set of policy actions to implement them, the SBA also includes major legislative initiatives designed according to the “think small first” principle.  The Commission has produced fact sheets which provide in-depth information on the SBA at member state level. They are structured according to the 10 principles of the SBA and are based on core indicators which relate the individual Member States to the EU average.
